North College Park Community Association (NCPCA) Meeting
September 14, 2017, Davis Hall, College Park, Maryland
Meeting was called to order by President John Krouse at 7:30 pm.
Minutes of August 3, 2017 NCPCA Meeting were approved as amended to read “former County Council Member Tom Dernoga is running for election.”
Approximately 35 attendees including: NCPCA Officers and Council Members Nagle, Kabir, Cook; City of College Park speakers Scott Somers, Manager, Terry Schum, Director of Planning, Robert Ryan, Director of Public Services; Guest speakers Brian Curry, Johnson Development and Edward Gibbs, Land-use Attorney; Police Officer LT Keleti.
Meeting
- Terry Schum presented on the continuing issue of improvements to the Hollywood District, emphasizing the planning study of 2014, that is now at the 30% phase. Primary concerns pertain to county storm drain easements, public right-of-ways and pedestrian safety and security – all in relation to Narragansett Pkwy. There is a need for funding source because the City is currently funding $1M of the $3M estimated cost. Other discussion included the lack of unified lighting fixtures in the City because each District has autonomy to select their own fixtures.
- Brian Curry of Johnson Development and Edward Gibbs, Land-Use Attorney, presented a concept drawing for a Storage Facility that would be located in District 4 on 9/10 of an acre.
- Robert Ryan and Officer Keleti spoken on security and contract police.
