Regular Meeting on October 12, 2017

Meeting was called to order by President John Krouse at 7:30 pm.

Attendance.  Approximately 75 attendees, including great-granddaughter of Edward Daniels; NCPCA Officers; the City of College Park Mayor and Council Representatives from District 1, 2, 4; and the following candidates for the November 2017 City elections:
Mayor Candidates in Attendance: S. H. Tom Chen, Mary C. Cook, Lalzarliani H. Malsawma, Patrick L. Wojahn

Council Candidates in Attendance:  D-1: S. Elizabeth DeBosky,  Christopher P. Gill, S. M. Fazlul Kabir,  Catherine Hope Kennedy.  D-2: P. J. Brennan,  Richard J. Douglas, Alexander C. Tobin  D-4: Oscar E. Gregory, Alan Y. Hew, Dustyn B. Kujawa, Denise C. Mitchell

Meeting:

Councilmember Kabir presented Moriah James’s paper on the, “The Vision of Edward Daniels: The History and Heritage of Daniels Park and Hollywood on the Hill”.

President Krouse explained how NCPCA includes District 1, District 2, and District 4.  He then chaired the Candidates’ Forum as follows:

Mayoral Candidate Forum.  3 minutes were allowed for Question 1: Considering your past experiences and goals for the future, please explain why you are the best candidate? and 2 minutes were allowed for Question 2: Please describe your three highest priorities as Mayor?

City Councilmember Candidate Forum.  2 minutes were allowed for Question 1: Please describe your best qualifications for serving as Councilmember?  1 minute was allowed for Question 2:  Please describe your vision for preserving and enhancing North College Park?  1 minute was allowed for Question 3: Please describe the greatest problem facing the City of College Park?

Minutes of September 14, 2017.  The minutes were approved with no amendment.

Treasurer’s Report.  Current status: Savings  $1061.47   Checking $188.78    Total:  $1250.25

  • Free Yoga Program @ Old Parish House, October 21.·
  • Animal Welfare Committee to provide free microchips, October 28. ·
  • District 2 and District 4, respectively, will host Candidate Forums.·
