Call to Order

President David Alicea called the meeting to order and read the agenda. Treasurer Melissa Peterson moved to approve. VP Kam Clary seconded. The motion passed by vote. 

Minutes

Arelis Perez motioned to approve the February Minutes. Director Mary Roop seconded. The motion passed by vote. 

Arelis Perez motioned to approve the April minutes. VP Clary seconded. The motion passed by vote. 

President’s Report

President Alicea solicited nominations for new officers. Reminded the assembly that the president and secretary would be vacant. Secretary Brian Roan nominated VP Clary for President, and VP Clary accepted the nomination. 

Vice President’s

VP Clary reminded the assembly about email updates from NCPCA. He then spotlighted the work done by the Bee City USA committee.  

Treasurer’s Report

SECU checking account: $1,302.35

SECU savings account: $335.83

BlueHost and MailChimp payments came due. We are looking to throw a spring BBQ. Treasurer Peterson put forward a motion to approve a $200 budget for the BBQ. VP Clary seconded.  Arelis Perez noted that College Park Woods Clubhouse could work. Secretary Roan noted that this was not in North College Park. David Turley spoke against the Clubhouse as well. A discussion followed. VP Clary brought up the use of the Hollywood Neighborhood Park. The budget was approved by vote. 

Treasurer Peterson also noted that $1,000 is earmarked for “Welcome Wagon” activities. 

Secretary’s Report

Secretary Roan gave updates related to decorum to facilitare notetaking and solicited nominations for secretary. 

Development Committee Update

Director Brendan Wray gave updates about sidewalk construction and Duvall Field. Mayor Kabir noted that the city will be spending $55,000 on pedestrian safety infrastructure due to the Duvall Field renovation. Secretary Roan voiced his displeasure. 

Events Committee Update

Director Mary Roop highlighted the farmers market on Saturdays from 10am-2pm. She also noted the Spring Street Fair on May 18 from 1-4pm at Davis Hall. She then gave spotlight to the coming spring and summer city events. Director Roop then noted that she could not be staying on as the Events Director. She will be continuing to coordinatie decorating the community tree as a member.

Maryland District 21 Post Session Meeting

Senator Jim Rosapepe gave an update related to the work done on a state level. This included legislation and budget. Andrea Ulloa gave updates on the work of Delegate Pena-Melnyk. Questions were asked related to health, immigration, and tax credits. Secretary Roan asked about the bills passed related to noise cameras, which passed. 

Unscheduled Motions and Announcements

No motions put forward.

Representatives from Tom Dernoga’s office talked about their coming utilities and resource fair. Monday May 12, 6-8pm. 

Todd Reitzel wanted to remind people of the boards and committees which residents can join. The applications are due May 23rd. They can be found online. 

Secretary Roan motioned to adjourn. Arelis Perez seconded. The motion passed by vote.
